This website was designed to provide information and updates concerning the construction of the new Matlacha Bridge.  Visit the site often for important commuter and mariner information including lane closures, work in the channel, construction progress, safety tips and other project information.

Archer Western Contractors Ltd., was awarded the 18 million dollar construction contract for the replacement bridge on May 18, 2010 by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners.  Construction began on October 11, 2010.

The replacement bridge will be constructed on an alignment just south of the existing bridge. The existing bridge will be open to traffic while the new bridge is constructed.  The new bridge will be a movable bridge about the same height as the existing bridge.
